Why I Hate Pseudo Gurus

I recently had an exchange with a gentleman who did not seem convinced that most of the so-called “gurus” are nothing more than charlatans who have read some stuff on the Net about Online Marketing and tried to make some real money. In all probability they failed miserably. However they realized that a bunch of people out there were desperately trying to make some money, and open to buy dreams for a few dollar if it was packaged properly.

Point in case. I recently visited one of these famous Guru miracle solution and looked at the website that starts like this:
———————————–
Struggling to pay bills? Sick of having to worry about money?

Copy Exactly How I Earn An Amazing Income Working From Home & It’s Shockingly Easy Guaranteed

This is the most important personal letter you’ll read – make sure that you read every word because this can transform your life as it has for my family, my close friends, and several others.
———————————–

Yea baby.. Give me more…

The web page (they are all one page using the same format, same brackets, boxes, promises, etc. – That alone should be a hint) goes on to show you statements and daily revenues, amazing possibilities, promises that even a dummy can do it, etc. It also has testimonial of people who have used this method and made serious money.

What is quite amazing about all this is that the domain was purchased only 4 and half months ago, in August of 2009. In other words not only this guy but a bunch of other have made millions in less than four months (that is assuming that these people have joined the program from the moment the domain was purchased)… Wow…. That is something. Feels like… I don’t know… Magic

By the way skeptics, here are the registry dates from GoDaddy: (You can check it yourself – It pays to check some basic facts sometimes)

Updated Date: 04-dec-2009
Creation Date: 05-aug-2009
Expiration Date: 05-aug-2010

When it becomes even more interesting however is when you go all the way to the end of the document, and read the disclaimer. Here it is:

“ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES SOLD ON THIS WEBSITE ARE FOR EDUCATIONAL AND INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.” Wow… What a downer after all the hype.

One thing that I must admit and is amazing is that they would even bother with a disclaimer (I doubt it is written by an attorney but this is another story all together). I guess whoever sold the first concept, software and site must have gotten sued and passing on the warning.

In conclusion, be aware of who you are doing business with, especially on the Net… There may be some genuine gurus out there but they are few and in all likeliness do not sell their secrets for $9.99 or even $49.99. As I mention in my e-book, Plan Your Internet Success (my turn for a plug), why would anyone making millions sale his/her secret for any amount of money? It makes no economic sense.

I know exactly what you mean Jean. I have gotten pulled in by so many of those things, it just isn’t funny. I think the truth about how many of them are actually “psuedo gurus” would shock us if we really knew. (well, I take that back; it wouldn’t shock ME)I believe 98% of them work for the government or a companies that receive big tax relief from the government. I mean think about it. Our governments take more and more money in from their people and continue to rapidly increase the amount of personnel they employ. They have to give back to the big companies.

In a world that is becoming more and more socialist by the day, what real need is there for free enterprise? [other than to bait the mainstream of society (lower to middle lower class) into forking out MORE MONEY!] But Jean the good news is that although free enterprise can be imitated and suppressed, it cannot be done away with. Else what would they have to lie about? We need to keep pressing on and building our list “BEFORE” sending them to our affiliate links. We need to write articles and post them in the article directories of ezines. Do a google search for ‘those two words’ and begin promoting your blog or squeeze page in the article directories. Also join forums (type ‘forums’ into the google search) and share your social networking ideas with people. When they hear how smart you are they will want to know more. That is when they will click on your link and give you their name and email. Then your auto responder takes over. You can also use your auto-responder as a newsletter with ‘evergreen’ information in it (evergreen meaning, info that will always be valid. That way your newsletter will always be the same and appear fresh to the new subscriber. I’ll subscribe to your blog and perhaps we can exchange ideas sometime. In the meantime, here’s a tip; go to “ping.fm” and sign up for your free account. Use Twitterfeed.com to stream the rss feed of your blog back to ‘ping.fm’ and out to all your social networks. Twitterfeed has built in link shorteners. (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.) PING.FM is the craziest tool I have ever seen. Keep in touch if you like.
